Regular Season Round 8: Segle XXI - Castello 69-60

There was no surprise in Barcelona where 5th ranked Castello (5-3) was defeated by third ranked Segle XXI (7-2) 69-60 on Saturday. Segle XXI outrebounded Castello 44-27 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Marina Asensio (-4) who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Elena Buenavida (174-4) chipped in 21 points. Point guard Clara Caceres (167-97) produced 19 points and 4 assists and Laura Campos (-1) added 5 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Segle XXI have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Castello keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Mataro. Segle XXI will meet league's leader Viladecans in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Castello will play against Girona (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
