Very expected game when 7th ranked Calpe (1-7) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Gandia (7-2) 91-51 on Saturday. Gandia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Calpe's 24. They outrebounded Calpe 38-21 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Alejandro Vera (202-97) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Unai Zamora (193-1) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Gandia players scored in double figures. Gandia's coach Alejandro Mesa felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Argentinian-Italian guard Juan Davini (185-98) responded with 17 points and American swingman Gerald Colas Jr (195-91, college: Alfred) scored 13 points. Gandia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group E-B with 7-2 record having just one point less than leader Lliria. Calpe lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Sueca. Gandia will meet Alginet B (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Calpe will play against Benidorm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
