Regular Season Round 10: Maresme - Alcobendas 64-83

Bottom-ranked Maresme is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to third ranked Alcobendas (8-1) 83-64 on Saturday evening. Alcobendas outrebounded Maresme 42-30 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Rachel Howard (178-95, college: USF) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Danish swingman Sofie Tryggedsson (182-95, college: Pacific) contributed with 27 points for the winners. Alcobendas' coach Julian Sanchez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cypriot guard Stavroula Koniali (170-93) replied with 19 points and Swiss Camila Martinez (183-1) added 13 points in the effort for Maresme. Alcobendas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Jairis. Maresme at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Alcobendas is looking forward to face Celta Zorka (#9) in Vigo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maresme will play on the road against the league's second-placed Jairis (#2) in Alcantarilla and hopes to get finally their first victory.
