The biggest surprise took place in Valdarno where host Valdarno (5-1) crushed league's leader Savona (4-1) 63-36 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in A2. Valdarno held Savona to an opponent 24.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Valdarno forced 27 Savona turnovers and outrebounded them 48-34 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Isabella Olajide (183-0) fired 13 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Angelica Tibe (184-96) chipped in 6 points and 12 rebounds. Bulgarian center Hristina Tyutyundzhieva (190-93) produced 5 points and 7 rebounds and forward Beatrice Paleari (173-1) added 7 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valdarno keeps a position of A2 leader. Newly promoted Savona dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Valdarno. Savona will play next round against Civitanova trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Valdarno will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Umbertide at home.
