Regular Season Round 8: Lavrio - AEK 81-82

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked AEK (4-4) edged on the road higher ranked Lavrio (4-4) 82-81 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Lavrio won second period 25-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AEK made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Colombian swingman Braian Angola-Rodas (198-94, college: FSU) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American Ian Hummer (201-90, college: Princeton) who added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five AEK players scored in double figures. American guard Tyson Carter (193-98, college: MSU) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Vasileios Mouratos (193-97) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Lavrio's coach Christos Serellis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AEK moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Lavrio. Lavrio lost third consecutive game. AEK will meet at home higher ranked Promitheas (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lavrio will play against the league's leader Panathinaikos in Athens and hope to secure a win.
