Regular Season Round 10: Jairis - Archena 72-66

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Jairis (9-0) won against at home 6th ranked Archena (4-5) 72-66 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Jairis outrebounded Archena 44-26 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Khion Sankey (196-92, college: Lipscomb) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Adrian Mendez (195-93) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Jairis players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward David Garcia (200-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and Arturo Fernandez (193-95) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jairis have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group E-C with 9-0 record. Archena lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Jairis will meet Molina (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Archena will play against Begastri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
