There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Trieste (5-4) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Venezia (5-4) 84-77 on Sunday. Venezia outrebounded Trieste 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American-Dominican center Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Stefano Tonut (194-93) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Venezia's coach Walter De Raffaele used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Israeli Adrian Banks (191-86, college: Arkansas St.) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and naturalized Argentinian center Marcos Delia (209-92, agency: Players Group) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Venezia. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Trieste. Venezia will meet Brescia (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
