Regular Season Round 9: Tsmoki-Minsk - Brest 121-58

Bottom-ranked Brest (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 121-58 loss to third ranked Tsmoki-Minsk (8-2) in Minsk. The game without a history. Tsmoki-Minsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brest to just 4 points in third quarter. Tsmoki-Minsk dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Brest's 28. Tsmoki-Minsk forced 20 Brest turnovers and outrebounded them 42-18 including a 29-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. Tsmoki-Minsk players were unselfish on offense dishing 43 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Brest's players. It was a good game for Alena Tsitavets (180-3) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Forward Ekaterina Rybalko (182-98) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Tsmoki-Minsk players scored in double figures. Tsmoki-Minsk's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Anastasia Babak (180-2) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and guard Maria Rafalovich (170-1) added 9 points and 5 assists in the effort for Brest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tsmoki-Minsk. They maintain third place with 8-2 record behind leader Gorizont. Brest lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Tsmoki-Minsk's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk BDU Tsmoki.
