Regular Season Round 9: Coruna - Oviedo 61-83

The biggest surprise of round 9 was guest Oviedo's (7-2) easy road victory over 4th placed Coruna (6-3) 83-61 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Coruna. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The best player for the winners was Norwegian guard Harald Frey (185-97, college: Montana St.) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Oviedo players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Alejandro Hernandez (189-90) who recorded 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Nick Ward (203-97, college: Michigan St.) added 15 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oviedo moved-up to second place, which they share with Granada and Palencia. Coruna at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Lleida. Oviedo is looking forward to face Acunsa GBC (#8) in San Sebastian in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Coruna will play on the road against Lleida and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
