Regular Season Round 9: Gorizont - Gomel 88-53

Undefeated leader Gorizont delivered the ninth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Gomel (4-6) 88-53 in Minsk. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gorizont forced 24 Gomel turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Gomel's players. The best player for the winners was Brazilian forward Nany Carvalho (188-97, college: Kansas) who scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Yuliya Rytsikava (181-86) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Russian center Anna Nuzhnaya (194-92) who recorded 12 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Ilona Katsyro (170-5) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gorizont (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Gomel at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Gorizont are looking forward to face league's second-placed Olimpia in Grodno in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gomel will play on the road against Victoria in Grodno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
