Regular Season Round 9: Widzew - Sleza 2 69-49

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Widzew as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Widzew smashed bottom-ranked Sleza 2 in Lodz 69-49. Widzew dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sleza 2's 32. Widzew forced 24 Sleza 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was international forward Ewelina Gala (185-90) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Anna Kudelska (169-98) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Widzew players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Aleksandra Mielnicka (173-4) who recorded 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Adrianna Ryng (178-5) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Widzew (8-0) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Sleza 2 still closes the standings with eight games lost. Sleza 2 will play next round against Wisla Krakow trying to get back on the winning streak. Widzew will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Pol.Krakow on the road.
