Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Gernika and 5th ranked Araski had identical 5-4 record. This time Gernika used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from Vitoria-Gasteiz 69-47 on Saturday night. Gernika dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Araski's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Tinara Moore (190-96, college: CMU) chipped in 14 points during the contest. At the losing side Mozambican power forward Leia Dongue (185-91) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Mozambican forward Tamara Seda (193-94, college: UTEP) scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gernika have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Promete. Loser Araski dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Zaragoza. Gernika will meet higher ranked Girona (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Araski will play against Estudiantes (#11) and hope to secure a win.
