Regular Season Round 11: Chantada - Betanzos 67-68

There was an upset when higher ranked Chantada (6-5) was edged at home by eleventh ranked Betanzos (5-6) 68-67 on Saturday. Betanzos forced 21 Chantada turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for center Marcos Rozas (202-83) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Dominican guard Yohansy Minaya (185-91) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Forward Cristian Iglesias (200-94) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Hugo Rey (187-3) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Chantada in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Betanzos moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Chantada keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Marin. Betanzos will meet higher ranked Leon (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chantada will play against Culleredo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
