Everything could happen in Veneto at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Ponzano and 8th ranked Bolzano AV had identical 2-4 record. This time Ponzano used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Bolzano 63-56 on Saturday night. Ponzano dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Bolzano AV's 14. They outrebounded Bolzano AV 47-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by Dutch center Richelle Van Der Keijl (196-93, college: N.Mexico) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds and forward Claudia Gobbo (180-98) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 14 points by point guard Francesca Santarelli (175-94) did not help to save the game for Bolzano AV. Power forward Liliana Miccio (179-89) added 13 points for the guests. Four Bolzano AV players scored in double figures. Bolzano AV's coach Alessandro Pezzi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ponzano (3-4) moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Bolzano AV dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Ponzano will meet Vicenza (#9) on the road in the next round. Bolzano AV will play against Carugate and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
