Regular Season Round 11: Ardoi - Maresme 55-61

Maresme has finally registered their first victory this season after ten consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Ardoi (5-6) on the road game in 61-55 on Saturday. Maresme had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Maresme especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. The best player for the winners was Gedna Capel (185-2) who scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Swiss Camila Martinez (183-1) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Ines Santibanez (-3) produced 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian center Diana Cabrera (186-93) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Ardoi's coach Jose Javier Unzue rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Maresme (1-10) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with Azkoitia. Loser Ardoi dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Celta Zorka. Maresme will meet at home higher ranked Zamarat (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ardoi will play against Paterna (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
