Regular Season Round 11: LBC Cocinas - Mondragon 90-65

Everything could happen in Logrono at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked LBC Cocinas and 6th ranked Mondragon had identical 7-3 record. This time LBC Cocinas used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Mondragon 90-65 on Saturday night. LBC Cocinas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 28. LBC Cocinas forced 20 Mondragon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Marti Duch (188-98) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Guard Borja Arevalo (195-91) accounted for 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Arevalo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four LBC Cocinas players scored in double figures. Swingman Andoni Acha (195-99) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Alex Ramon (186-93, college: Colgate) added 16 points respectively for Mondragon in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for LBC Cocinas. They moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Cantbasket and Getxo. Loser Mondragon keeps the sixth position with four games lost. LBC Cocinas will meet Burgos Nissan (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mondragon will play against Solares and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
