Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Mataro (6-3) defeated on the road 10th ranked Artes (2-7) 88-72 on Saturday. Mataro made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game, while Artes only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Artes 45-31 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mataro made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for forward Jordi Juanola (196-98) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds. Power forward Gerbert Marti (204-91) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Mataro players scored in double figures. Arnau Cumelles (198-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Roger Portella (183-83) added 9 points, 9 assists and 4 steals respectively for Artes in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mataro. They moved-up to third place in Group C-3, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Artes keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
