Everything went according to plan when second ranked Gandia (7-2) defeated on the road 6th ranked Alginet B (1-8) 87-80 on Saturday. Gandia forced 27 Alginet B turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for center Alejandro Vera (202-97) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Alejandro Requena (189-1) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Point guard Ivan Lerin (187-1) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Pepe Briz (-0) added 11 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for Alginet B in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gandia. They maintain second place in Group E-B with 7-2 record behind leader Lliria. Alginet B lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Calpe and Sueca. Gandia will meet at home Sueca (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alginet B will play against Calpe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
