Regular Season Round 11: PeKa - Catz 75-59

Leader Peli-Karhut delivered the ninth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Catz Lappeenranta (3-8) 75-59 in Kotka. It looked good early as Catz Lappeenranta took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Peli-Karhut had a 26-8 second period charge getting the lead and Catz Lappeenranta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-75. American forward Zykera Rice (185-96, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Austrian-Ukrainian guard Inga Orekhova (188-89, college: S.Florida) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Russian power forward Elena Melto (184-86) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Lotta Hamalainen (174-96) added 15 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Catz Lappeenranta. Catz Lappeenranta's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Peli-Karhut have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-2 record. Catz Lappeenranta at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Peli-Karhut will play against Espoo Team (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Torpan Pojat and hopes to get back on the winning track.
