Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Castelldefels (6-2) edged at home 8th ranked Sant Cugat (3-6) 81-78 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Castelldefels shot 33 for 46 from the free-throw line, while Sant Cugat only scored eleven points from the stripe. It was an exceptional evening for forward Eric Manes (194-87) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Santiago Serrataco (187-90) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Josep Crespo came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and Venezuelan guard Rafael Melgarejo (184-91) added 15 points respectively for Sant Cugat in the defeat. Five Sant Cugat players scored in double figures. Sant Cugat's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Castelldefels maintains fourth place in Group C-1 with 6-2 record. Loser Sant Cugat keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with SESE and Pinta Castell. Castelldefels will meet Barbera (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sant Cugat will have a break next round.
