Regular Season Round 8: Savona - Battipaglia 54-67
Date: November 28, 2021
There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Battipaglia (2-6) won against on the road higher ranked Savona (4-3) 67-54 on Sunday. They outrebounded Savona 40-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (165-90) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Caterina Logoh (182-3) supported her with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Battipaglia players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by forward Beatrice Paleari (173-1) did not help to save the game for Savona. Bulgarian center Hristina Tyutyundzhieva (190-93) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Battipaglia maintains fourteenth position in A2 with 2-6 record. Newly promoted Savona dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Battipaglia will meet at home league's leader Valdarno in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Savona will play against San Salvatore (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
