Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Even 14 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by American guard Maggie Lucas (178-91, college: Penn St.) did not help to save the game for Sassari. Power forward Veronica DellOlio (185-93) added 4 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Bologna. Loser Sassari dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Venezia will meet Costa Masnaga (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sassari will play against Faenza and hope to secure a win.
