There was no surprise when 8th ranked Tel Aviv (1-4) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Ashdod (4-2) 70-66 on Monday. Ashdod forced 19 Tel Aviv turnovers. American players dominated the game. Guard Victoria Vivians (185-94, college: MSU) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Allison Hightower (178-88, college: LSU) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Ashdod players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Dijonai Carrington (180-98, college: Baylor) with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Kiara Leslie (183-95, college: NC State) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Ashdod moved-up to third place, which they share with Ramat H. Tel Aviv lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Ashdod will meet at home Ramat G. (#5) in the next round. Tel Aviv will play against Ramat H. (#3) in Hasharon and hope to win that game.
