Regular Season Round 8: Badel - Banovici 85-55
Date: December 1, 2021
Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Bosnian Banovici (0-8) was smashed by fourth ranked North Macedonian Badel (3-5) in Skopje 85-55 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Badel. Banovici managed to win fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Banovici to just 5 points in third quarter. Badel forced 22 Banovici turnovers and outrebounded them 37-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by guard Aleksandra Stojanovska (178-94, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 30 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American center Kaitlyn Mathieu (188-92, college: William & Mary) supported her with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Badel's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by guard Maida Rahmanovic-Lacic (176-89) did not help to save the game for Banovici. Point guard Zerina Kurtic (165-3) added 11 points and 5 assists for the guests. Badel maintains fourth position with 3-5 record. Loser Banovici still closes the standings with eight games lost. Badel will meet higher ranked Pozega (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Banovici will play against Partizan in Beograd and hopes to get finally their first victory.
