There was an upset when Latvian Liepaja/LSSS (0-5) lost to Slovakian Young Angels (1-1) in Kosice 68-73 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 19-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Young Angels dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Liepaja/LSSS's 28. It was an exceptional evening for American center Channon Fluker (193-97, college: CSUN) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Valerie Higgins (185-98, college: Pacific, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Brazilian Maiara Pereira (185-2, agency: Interperformances) came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Latvian guard Ketija Vihmane (176-1) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for Liepaja/LSSS in the defeat. Four Liepaja/LSSS players scored in double figures. Liepaja/LSSS's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
