Regular Season Round 12: ViVe - Pyrinto 85-70
Date: December 4, 2021
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Vimpelin Veto (9-3) beat at home bottom-ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (1-11) 85-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Vimpelin Veto. Tampereen Pyrinto managed to win second period 23-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vimpelin Veto made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Shay Burnett (175-96, college: Elon) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import forward Kym Royster (188-97, college: Indiana) supported her with 20 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Burnett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds by American forward Whisper Fisher (186-97, college: Syracuse) did not help to save the game for Tampereen Pyrinto. Forward Anna Peltola (168-94) added 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vimpelin Veto have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-3 record behind leader PeKa. Tampereen Pyrinto lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Vimpelin Veto will meet Marsky Helsinki (#5) on the road in the next round. Tampereen Pyrinto will play against Catz Lappeenranta (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
