Regular Season Round 12: Cibona - Alkar 78-84

The most important game in the last round took place in Zagreb between third ranked Cibona (8-4) and twelfth ranked Alkar (3-9) on Saturday night. Cibona was defeated by Alkar in a tough game at home 78-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cibona. 24 personal fouls committed by Cibona helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for naturalized Australian swingman Dominic Gilbert (201-96, college: UBC, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Patrick McGlynn (188-92, college: URI, agency: GoEmpire Group) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Alkar players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Kresimir Radovcic (195-97) replied with 17 points and American Nathan Reuvers (211-98, college: Wisconsin) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Cibona. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alkar moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Dubrava and Sibenik. Cibona at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Alkar is looking forward to face higher ranked Gorica (#5) in Velika Gorica in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cibona will play at home against the league's leader Split where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
