Regular Season Round 9: Kataja - Raiders 66-69

A very close game took place in Joensuu between Raiders and Kataja. Fifth ranked Raiders (5-2) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Kataja (1-6). Raiders managed to escape with a 3-point win 69-66 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-66. Forward Otto Raisanen (188-3) nailed 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Ossi Eskola (188-3) accounted for 11 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Raiders players scored in double figures. Center Miika Smolander (201-3) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Eemil Tuononen (182-3) added 16 points respectively for Kataja in the defeat. Kataja's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Raiders have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Kataja dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with HNMKY and Vilpas. Raiders will meet Kouvot (#5) in the next round. Kataja will play against the league's leader Pyrinto in Tampere and hope to win that game.
