Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Stjarnan (3-5) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Grindavik (6-2) 92-88 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 29-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard EC Matthews (196-94, college: URI, agency: Duran International) who scored 32 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) chipped in 27 points and 7 rebounds. Finnish guard Shawn Hopkins (198-95, college: N.Georgia, agency: Blacktop Management) produced 21 points and American guard Robert Turner III (190-93, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Grindavik and five Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Stjarnan's coach Arnar Gudjonsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Grindavik moved-up to second place, which they share with Tindastoll and Thor Thorl. Loser Stjarnan keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Grindavik will meet IR (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stjarnan will play against Njardvik and hope to secure a win.
