Very expected game in Pontevedra where 9th ranked Coruna (4-6) was defeated by second ranked Arxil (9-1) 61-57 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Arxil outrebounded Coruna 50-27 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Heather Forster (188-96, college: Albany) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian guard Dunja Buzadzin (176-94) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Amy Griffin (183-96, college: La Salle) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Laura Martinez (-0) scored 9 points and 5 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Arxil keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with Almeria. Loser Coruna keeps the ninth place with six games lost. They share the position with Melilla and Rosalia. Arxil will meet Unicaja (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Coruna will play against Rosalia (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
