Very important is a road loss of third ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (5-3) against sixth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (5-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Maccabi Tel-Aviv was defeated by Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona 87-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Ironi Nes-Ziona dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Tel-Aviv's 28. Ironi Nes-Ziona forced 19 Maccabi Tel-Aviv turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Frank Bartley IV (191-94, college: La-Lafayette, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Diante Garrett (193-88, college: Iowa St.) supported him with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Bartley IV is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 5 assists by American-Turkish guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-93, college: Florida, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Tel-Aviv. American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-94, college: Seton Hill) added 12 points for the guests. Ironi Nes-Ziona have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Maccabi T-A and H.Holon. Ironi Nes-Ziona will meet Bnei Hasharon (#7) in the next round.
