Undefeated Pleszew (10-1) recorded its first loss in Katy Wroclawskie on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Katy Wroc. (8-3) 85-82. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Pleszew. They outrebounded Pleszew 35-18 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Katy Wroc. shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Grzegorz Kaczmarek (193-83) nailed 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Marcin Kowalski (175-82) accounted for 15 points and 6 assists. Katy Wroc.'s coach Jacek Kolis used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Mikolaj Spala (190-93) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Grzegorz Malecki (195-84) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for Pleszew in the defeat. Five Pleszew players scored in double figures. Katy Wroc. maintains fifth place with 8-3 record. Loser Pleszew keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Slask 3. Katy Wroc. will meet Nysa (#9) on the road in the next round. Pleszew will play against Gimbasket (#15) and hope to secure a win.
