Regular Season Round 10: Virtus BO - Sassari 102-100

Thirteenth-ranked Sassari (3-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Virtus BO (8-2) in Bologna on Sunday. Virtus BO managed to secure only two-point victory 102-100. However their fans expected much easier game. Virtus BO dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Sassari's 28. They outrebounded Sassari 46-25 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Virtus BO looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Sassari helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic (195-87) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) produced 21 points and 8 assists and Lithuanian forward Eimantas Bendzius (207-90) added 25 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Virtus BO have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Milano. Sassari lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Virtus BO are looking forward to face Cremona (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sassari will play against Venezia and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
