Regular Season Round 13: Cibona - Split 82-60

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Split (10-3) in Zagreb on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked Cibona (9-4) 82-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Split. Cibona dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Split's 26. Cibona forced 20 Split turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International power forward Roko Prkacin (206-2) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Bosnian swingman Amar Gegic (200-98, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists. Four Cibona players scored in double figures. At the losing side international guard Toni Perkovic (191-98) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and swingman Lovre Runjic (197-0) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cibona maintains third place with 9-4 record behind leader Split. Split at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Cibona are looking forward to face Gorica (#5) in Velika Gorica in the next round. Split will play at home against Dubrava (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
