There was an upset when higher ranked Langhe Roero (6-5) was crushed on the road by eleventh ranked Varese (5-6) 86-67 on Wednesday. Varese looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Langhe Roero's players. It was a great evening for Nicolo Virginio (204-3) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Matteo Maruca (185-97) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. Five Varese players scored in double figures. Naturalized Dominican guard Daniel Perez (185-97) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and guard Castellino Nicolo (190-2) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Langhe Roero's coach Luca Jacomuzzi rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Varese moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Desio and Monfalcone. Newly promoted Langhe Roero dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Vicenza and Bergamo. Varese will meet Oleggio (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Langhe Roero will play against Pavia (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
