Regular Season Round 11: Desio - Vicenza 85-73

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Desio (5-6) defeated at home 6th ranked Vicenza (6-5) 85-73 on Thursday. It was a great evening for Andrea Mazzoleni (197-98) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Andrea Leone (186-94) helped adding 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Desio players scored in double figures. Desio's coach Gabriele Ghirelli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Andrea Mazzucchelli (187-94, agency: SLN) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Marcello Piccoli (201-99, agency: SLN) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Desio moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Monfalcone. Loser Vicenza keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Bergamo. Desio will meet Bernareggio (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vicenza will play against Jesolo (#10) and hope to secure a win.
