Regular Season Round 9: Thor Thorl - KR 101-85

There was no surprise in Thorlakshofn where 7th ranked KR (4-5) was defeated by second ranked Thor Thorl (7-2) 101-85 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-85. Thor Thorl dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to KR's 40. Thor Thorl forced 19 KR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Spanish-Argentinian guard Luciano Massarelli (183-93) stepped up and scored 30 points and 4 assists for the winners and American point guard Glynn Watson Jr (185-97, college: Nebraska) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Shawn Glover (201-90, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Danish guard Adama Darboe (190-86, agency: Slash Sports) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 7-2 record behind leader Keflavik. KR lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. Thor Thorl will meet Tindastoll (#4) in the next round. KR will play against Thor AK and hope to secure a win.
