Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Gomel (7-6) smashed at home 9th ranked Grodno GrSU (2-11) 118-69 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Grodno GrSU's 22. Gomel forced 24 Grodno GrSU turnovers and outrebounded them 51-32 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Grodno GrSU's players. The best player for the winners was guard Timofey Verevkin (187-93) who scored 32 points. Russian Danil Dyakov (205-0) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Gomel players scored in double figures. Point guard Anton Gaidel (182-3) produced 14 points and 4 steals and point guard Dmitriy Mahnach (180-1) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gomel have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 7-6 record. Loser Grodno GrSU keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Gomel will meet at home bottom-ranked SDUSHOR (#10) in the next round. Grodno GrSU will play against Brest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
