Regular Season Round 13: Iskra Svit - Komarno 99-111

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Iskra Svit (4-8) was defeated at home by second ranked Komarno (9-3) 111-99 on Saturday. Komarno made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Strangely Iskra Svit outrebounded Komarno 41-29 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Serbian swingman Luka Gasic (195-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winners and Serbian forward Vuk Djordjevic (203-99) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side American swingman Ian Edward Kinard (203-97, college: SC State) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard AJ Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) scored 15 points, 8 assists and 6 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Komarno. Newly promoted Komarno maintains second place with 9-3 record behind leader Levice. Loser Iskra Svit dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Komarno will meet at home bottom-ranked Prievidza (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Iskra Svit will play against Lucenec and hope to secure a win.
