Rather expected game when 9th ranked Melilla (4-7) was edged at home by seventh ranked Barakaldo (6-5) 68-66 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Alexus Johnson (188-94, college: Texas Southern) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Brazilian-Dominican forward Maira Harford (181-95, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Four Barakaldo players scored in double figures. Brazilian guard Alana Goncalo (166-94) came up with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian power forward Bojana Stevanovic (180-96) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Melilla in the defeat. Barakaldo moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Leon. Loser Melilla dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Rosalia. Barakaldo will meet at home league's leader Almeria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Melilla will play against Leon (#6) and hope to secure a win.
