Regular Season Round 14: Real Canoe - Lima-Horta 55-58

A very close game took place in Madrid between Lima-Horta and Real Canoe. Seventh ranked Lima-Horta (7-6) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Real Canoe (5-9). Lima-Horta managed to escape with a 3-point win 58-55 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Lima-Horta forced 19 Real Canoe turnovers. Strangely Real Canoe outrebounded Lima-Horta 43-28 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Eliana Soriano (175-89) who scored 9 points and 7 assists. Center Paula Tutusaus (190-90) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Lucia Rodriguez (188-99) produced 16 points and 4 steals and Lithuanian power forward Dovile Miliauskaite (187-89, college: Towson) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lima-Horta moved-up to sixth place. Loser Real Canoe keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Al-Qazeres. Lima-Horta will meet at home Paterna (#9) in the next round. Real Canoe will play against Jairis in Alcantarilla and hope to secure a win.
