Very expected game when 7th ranked Slovan B. (2-10) was smashed by second ranked Piestanske C. (11-1) in Bratislava 77-35 on Saturday. Piestanske C. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Slovan B.'s 20. Piestanske C. forced 29 Slovan B. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Slovan B.'s players. The winners were led by international Natalia Martiskova (170-99) who scored that evening 23 points and Croatian point guard Matea Tadic (176-99) supported her with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Piestanske C. players scored in double figures. Even 9 points and 5 rebounds by Lucia Luttmerdingova (174-99) did not help to save the game for Slovan B.. Vanessa Puzderova (-1) added 5 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Piestanske C. have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-1 record having just three points less than leader MBK Ruzomb. Newly promoted Slovan B. keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Piestanske C. will meet SKP 08 BB (#4) in the next round. Slovan B. will play against SK UMB BB in Banska Bystrica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
