Regular Season Round 8: Siauliu Siauliai - Daugavpils 93-66

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Latvian Daugavpils Universitate (2-7) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Lithuanian Siauliu Siauliai (5-4) 93-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Siauliu Siauliai. Daugavpils Universitate managed to win second period 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliu Siauliai forced 22 Daugavpils Universitate turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Siauliu Siauliai especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Justina Oficerovaite (186-2) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Klaudija Janionyte (169-2) who added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Siauliu Siauliai's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Latvian center Valerija Baranovska (177-3) responded with 28 points and American Isis Lane (190-98, college: FMU, agency: DC Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Siauliu Siauliai moved-up to fifth place. Daugavpils Universitate lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Siauliu Siauliai will meet RSU (#8) in the next round. Daugavpils Universitate will play against Aistes-LSMU in Kaunas and hope to secure a win.
