There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Piacentina (4-7) won against on the road leader Cantu (9-2) 95-90 on Sunday. Piacentina made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Piacentina outrebounded Cantu 35-22 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American Nikolas Raivio (193-86, college: Portland, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Guard Davide Bonacini (190-90, agency: SLN) helped adding 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. American point guard Trevon Allen (188-98, college: Idaho) responded with 21 points and the other American import guard Robert Johnson (192-95, college: Indiana) scored 16 points and 8 assists. Four Piacentina and five Cantu players scored in double figures. Piacentina moved-up to tenth place in A2. Loser Cantu still keeps top position with two games lost. Piacentina will meet at home higher ranked Monferrato (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cantu will play against Milano Urania and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Serie A just one year after relegation.
