Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Coruna and 8th ranked Melilla had identical 6-4 record. This time Coruna used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Melilla 95-69 on Sunday night. Coruna had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Ward (203-97, college: Michigan St.) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: MSU) chipped in 14 points. Point guard Gaizka Maiza (191-96) produced 9 points and 5 rebounds and Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (191-91) added 10 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Coruna (7-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Castello. Loser Melilla keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Coruna will meet league's leader Estudiantes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Melilla will play against Acunsa GBC (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
