The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Bulgarian Akademik P. (5-3) in Plovdiv on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Israeli I.Nahariya (4-1) 76-61. I.Nahariya forced 23 Akademik P. turnovers. Point guard Yogev Ohayon (189-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 6 assists. American guard Stephaun Branch (196-95, college: UWG, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four I.Nahariya players scored in double figures. Forward Nikolay Nikolov (196-94) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Akademik P.I.Nahariya have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader Akademik P. Akademik P. at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. I.Nahariya will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akademik P. will play at home against Prishtina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
