Regular Season Round 15: Lancut - Walbrzych 101-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Lancut. Second ranked Sokol faced 4th placed Gornik. Host Sokol (12-2) smashed guests from Walbrzych (11-4) 101-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gornik. Sokol players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was a good game for point guard Marcin Nowakowski (184-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Center Przemyslaw Wrona (205-93) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Sokol players scored in double figures. Center Damian Cechniak (210-93) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Hubert Pabian (201-89) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gornik. Gornik's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sokol. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Kolobrzeg. Gornik at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Sokol will play against league's leader Kotwica in Kolobrzeg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gornik will play at home against Tychy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
