Regular Season Round 13: Haukar - Skallagrimur 109-71

D1 top team - Haukar (12-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Skallagrimur (5-9) in Hafnarfjordur 109-71. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Haukar had a 40-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Haukar brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Spanish point guard Jose Medina (185-93) nailed 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and American guard Jeremy Smith (190-91, college: Nicholls St.) accounted for 20 points and 9 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Haukar's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Bryan Battle (196-99, college: FHU, agency: IceBasket) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and forward Bergthor Rikhardsson (196-97) added 17 points respectively for Skallagrimur in the defeat. Five Haukar and four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. Haukar maintains first place with 12-2 record. Skallagrimur at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Haukar will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Skallagrimur will play at home against Hottur (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
