Regular Season Round 15: Trefl - Legia 85-70

There was a surprise result in Sopot where eleventh ranked Trefl (7-8) beat higher ranked Legia (8-6) 85-70 on Saturday. Trefl made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Trefl outrebounded Legia 37-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (205-86) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. International Michal Kolenda (202-97) chipped in 13 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman (193-94, college: Michigan) who recorded 16 points and the other American import guard Raymond Cowels III (191-90, college: Santa Clara) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trefl moved-up to tenth place. Loser Legia dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Zastal and Astoria. Trefl will meet league's second-placed Twarde Pierniki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Legia will play against Asseco Arka (#12) in Gdynia and hope to secure a win.
