Regular Season Round 12: Girona - Almeda 37-45

There was an upset when higher ranked Girona (8-4) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Almeda (4-8) 45-37 on Saturday. Almeda held Girona to an opponent 22.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.7 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was forward Ana Caballero (185-1) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Center Cristina Pujol (178-95) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Vanessa Gonzalez (184-94) who recorded 6 points and 9 rebounds and forward Alba Coma (177-99) added 8 points and 4 steals respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Almeda maintains eleventh position in Group B with 4-8 record, which they share with Azulejos. Loser Girona dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Casablanca. Almeda will meet at home Azulejos (#12) in the next round.
